Music Festival in Cognac

Cognac Blues Passion is a summer music festival, situated in the public park in the city center of Cognac. In the week of 4 to 8 july 2017, a line up of international artists will be performing under a sunny sky. This year, we are glad to notice that there is a belgian presence with Erickkson Delcroix, the nice country couple Nathalie Delcroix (Laïs) and Bjorn Erikkson (Admiral Freebee, Zita Swoon) with their music of folk, country and americana. Yoga Pauze – Brussels @ Domaine Borgnette

In May we have ‘Yoga Pauze’ as guests inY Domaine Borgnette.

Yoga¨Pauze selected Domaine Borgnette as a perfect location for this great initiative. During one week (11/5 – 17/5) they organise yoga courses, meditation and walking meditation. Healthy and inspiring vegetarian cooking is on the menu.

Tintin in Angoulême

A great way to discover Angoulême and its passion for comic books (Bande dessinée – BD) is to follow a tours of the town including the murs peints  various walls painted in street-art cartoon style. A statue has been erected to Hergé, creator of The adventures of Tintin. Don’t forget to visit the museum of cartoons. But most of all enjoy the nice atmosphere in the old town.

Summer Music in the Charente

Beginning of July, a lot of musical events are organised in the Charente region, and there is something for every musical taste, from rock to pop and from jazz to classic music.

Perigord Vert: the northern Dordogne

Why not spend a day (or two) in the northern part of the Dordogne (40 km from Angoulême).

This region is named Perigord Vert (green Perigord) because of the greenery of the forests and meadows of the region. It is aregion of unspoiled scenery split by fast moving streams, rolling hills and great rocky plateaus.

Start your day in the Charente in the amazing village of Aubeterre sur Dronne which has a church hewn out of rock and is counted amongst the “most beautiful villages” in France.

You could visit Nontron, famous for its knives or  the beautiful town of Brantome and its abbey. Near to Brantome are other attractive villages as St-Jean-de Cole and also the Bourdeilles. Nearby Thiviers is known as the capital of Foie Gras, a delicious speciality of the region and not to be missed. Whilst Riberac is a thriving market town. Another favourite town is Excideuil and close to here the recently discovered Grotte de Tourtoirac.

Lichères : Bright light

One of the qualities to discover in the Charente is the light. Be it in winter or summer, the Charente is one of the regions in the world where you can enjoy  daily this quality. The timing when the best light occurs is of course the Golden Hour, this is the hour enveloping sunrise and sunset, when the light is diffused, gentle, and vivid. The picture was taken in Lichères.

4 stars: Classement meublés de tourisme

Last week Domaine Borgnette was audited by UDOTSI -Charente Tourisme based on the quality criteria and grid of the ‘Classement meublés de tourisme’ and granted 4 stars. Ofcourse we are very proud of this result and with their help we discovered some more items to work on and further improve the experience for our guests.
